Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps

Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps

The Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. (EVAC) is a non-profit organization designated by the Village of Tuckahoe, Village of Bronxville and Town of Eastchester to respond to all requests for emergency medical assistance within these municipalities. As the first Volunteer Ambulance Service in Westchester County since 1952, EVAC currently remains the largest in Westchester County with over 100 members. EVAC has met all standards of quality assurance, equipment and response standards as defined by New York State, which has earned them the distinct title of New York State Department of Health Certified Emergency Medical Service provider, which means that the Corps has met a strict set of quality assurance, equipment and response standards defined by the state. EVAC provides round-the-clock Advanced Life Support (ALS) service through the use of per-diem Paramedics who respond to every call along with professionally trained Emergency Medical Technicians who are also volunteers.

Our involvement in the community includes offering different levels of CPR Courses, working with the Tuckahoe Police Department at their Child Safety Seat Inspections, Free Blood Pressure Screenings, visits to local Girl/Boy Scout Groups, stand-by at local sporting and recreational events, etc. EVAC continuously recruits Volunteers and has recently joined Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville School Districts as well as Fordham and Iona Preparatory Schools in becoming a certified agency for WISE Programs (senior service projects) helping many young men and women get experience before high school graduation. EVAC retains approximately 70% of its WISE Program Students as Volunteers. View EVAC's Current List of Officers.
