Wireless Policy

The Tuckahoe Public Library now offers wireless “Wi-Fi” access to the Library’s Internet service for properly equipped laptops or PDAs

  1. In order to connect, your computer must have a Wi-Fi compatible network card installed (802.11b or 802.11g).
  2. There is no charge for this service.
  3. This network supports up to five simultaneous users, so patrons may be asked to limit their time online when others are waiting.
  4. Please have your laptop fully-charged as outlets are not available due to tripping hazards for other patrons.
  5. Be aware that printing services are not available.
  6. A Wi-Fi signal is inherently less secure than a wired network, so patrons are urged to protect personal, financial, and business information while using any wireless device.
  7. The Library assumes no responsibility for damage, theft, viruses, or loss of any kind to a user’s equipment, software, data files, or any other personal property brought into or used at the Library.
  8. The Library cannot guarantee that the service will be available at any specific time.
  9. Library staff is prohibited from configuring your computer/device or installing any hardware or software on it. Please ask the Reference Librarians for a trouble-shooting handout with configuring information, or contact your hardware or software manufacturer if you need further assistance.
  10. Please bring and use your headphones if you plan to use audio files.
