February 2013 Issue 2 (914) 337-8487 4 Union Place Tuckahoe, NY 10707

Dear Friends,

As I write my first newsletter as the new Director of the Tuckahoe Senior Center, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be here with all of you. The Tuckahoe Seniors have been warm and welcoming and we are off to a great start! Barbara Stires has been so very helpful to me during this transition and I know how much you will all miss her. Please know that I will keep an open door and look forward to getting to know all of you better…

We have a fun roster of activities during February, including the return of Molly and Pippa, the rescue dogs, on Thursday, February 7th, and the Valentine’s Day Pizza Luncheon on the 14th with musical entertainment by balladeer Joseph Fusilier. Please make sure to sign up for this event.

Later in the month on the 21st , David Osborn returns to speak about St. Paul’s Church and its special relationship with Civil War Union veterans. We will have a discussion about nutrition and diabetes on the 26th , with Marlene Carneiro from Lawrence Hospital. This is an important health issue that many of us have to deal with. On February 28th , Vicki Garufi from the Beczak Environment Center comes to visit us with some “Hudson River Surprises”.

Lastly, just a reminder that it is time to pay the annual $15 membership dues. Please pass them on to our membership director, Bette Cavataio.

I have had the opportunity to meet many of you already, but if not, please do come over to the Center this month to meet me. February can be cold and dreary, so it is more important than ever to get out and see friends. Jennifer Vetromile
