Responsibilities

Our committee works hard to obtain and preserve photos, artifacts and news articles that have helped shape our wonderful Village.

  • The mission of the Tuckahoe History Committee is to conduct and encourage historical research, collection, preservation and exhibition of historical photographs, maps,events and materials for furure generations to enjoy.  The committee will also conduct presentations of Historical programs at local schools, media platforms and community organizations as a form of Historical outreach. (2019)

Important initiatives that the History Committee continue to work on:

  • We are thrilled to be part of efforts to create Historic Preservation Legislation, which was passed unanimously on January 10, 2022,  Important sites for  landmark consideration include:
    • Ward House & Crawford Monument
    • Current Rivervue Building ( historical Burroughs Welcome/Hodgeman Rubber/Revlon)
    • Generoso Pope Building (historical Village Hall)
    • Samuel Fee's Washington Hotel
    • Parway Casino
    • Village Hall (Assumption School, Main Street School)
    • Historic Lyric Theatre
    • Places of Worship:
      • Immaculate Conception
      • Assumption Church and Father Fata Hall
      • Korean Methodist Church ( historical Genesis Synagogue)
      • Shiloh Baptist Church
      • Masonic Temple
      • Various Monuments ( Vietnam, World War II,Gold Star, Korean, etc.)
    • The Committee has been collecting information with a global view, as well as a  local view regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.
    • Over the past 20 years, almost 200 binders and assorted artifacts have been archived relating to local history of the Village, more than half of which have been digitized.
    • Efforts are currently underway to create  a new  website link  to access digitized records and photos.
    • The Tuckahoe History Committee has a dynamic Facebook page, where you can comment on historical posts.

Join us on Wednesday mornings between 9:30am - 12:00 noon to visit our archive and Marbe Museum on the second floor of Village Hall.
