Recruitment is the first step in the hiring process. The primary method of recruitment for the position of police officer within the Tuckahoe Police Department is through the Westchester County Department of Human Resources continuous recruitment-testing program.
Westchester County holds the civil service examination for Police Officer and Police Officer (Spanish Speaking) to fill vacancies for positions in the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Services and the police departments of the Cities of Peekskill and Rye and the towns and villages in Westchester County.
The Police Officer and Police Officer (Spanish Speaking) was held on November 19, 2016. Police Officer exam is usually given once every four years and candidates have to wait until the beginning of next application filing period to apply.

Download the study guide, or it is available in hard copy form and can be obtained at the Westchester County Department of Human Resources Office.

Candidates considered for appointment to the Tuckahoe Police Department must be of good moral character and must satisfy the physical fitness, medical and any other requirements prescribed by the New York State Bureau for Municipal Police (B.M.P.) pursuant to Section 840 of the New York State Executive Law.
