Statement from Tuckahoe Public Library on the COVID-19 Response (Updated)

tuckahoe library status update

March 14th, 2020

The Tuckahoe Public Library will be closed from Monday, March 16 - Saturday, March 28, until further notice.

Book Return and Fines: Please do not return any books in the book drop as it is locked. There will be no fines on any materials during this period.

Books Holds Suspension: Starting Friday, March 13, 2020, libraries in the Westchester Library System will suspend all intralibrary* and interlibrary* loans  for the foreseeable future. This means our patrons will no longer be receiving holds from other libraries and our library will no longer be sending our items to others. However, you may still return your items to any open library in the Westchester Library System and use your card to check out items at any open library. Holds placed during this suspension period will become active when the suspension is lifted.  We realize how much our patrons value this service, and will implement it again as soon as is reasonable.
*Intralibrary: material available within the Westchester Library System
*Interlibrary: books available outside of the Westchester Library System in the US.

24/7 Library from Home: Tuckahoe Public Library offers free online access to best seller ebooks, audiobooks, music albums, movies, up-to-date world news, and much more. To support the community in this challenging time, many resources have extended their services.

  • Hoopla, which offers access to Movies, TV, Music Albums, eAudiobooks, eBooks, and Comics/Graphic novels, has increased its monthly maximum borrowing limit from 5 to 10 items.

  • Kanopy has increased its monthly maximum borrowing limit from 10 to 20 videos. Also, for the next 30 days from March 16th, with the support of select content partners like First Run Features, Samuel Goldwyn, Collective Eye Films, FilmRise, Films We Like, Media Education Foundation and NYX, they've put together a collection of films that you can watch at no cost with your library card. Watching these titles will not deduct play credits from your account. You can find a full list of titles here.

  • Kanopy Kids will be offering free, unlimited access for 30 days starting on March 16th! Kids can enjoy quality educational content like Sesame Street, Arthur, and even benefit from their language learning series.

  • Tutor.com has also increased its hours of availability for live tutoring appointments. Using a library card, students will now be able to connect with a tutor between 9 am and 10 pm, Monday through Friday, through June 15th.
